Birth Doula Service

Areas Covered

In the past, I have been able to provide birth doula support for women living in Hampshire, Berkshire and Surrey, and am able to travel to any area within 45 minutes drive from Basingstoke, Hampshire.

Initial consultation prior to booking confirmation

This initial consultation provides an opportunity for you
to discuss your needs and explore my potential role as your birth and/or postnatal doula. I believe there is value in meeting your doula in person before making the decision whether or not to make use of her services. No fee is payable for this initial consultation and there is no obligation to confirm a booking at the time.

Birth doula support

Antenatal visit(s)

Birth doula support will include at least one antenatal
visit in order to discuss issues that are important to you with regard to labour and birth. In addition to using the opportunity to get to know one another a little better, this time can also be used for discussing ways in which you can achieve the kind of birth you would like, and to draw up a list of birth preferences.

Telephone and e-mail contact

You may contact me via telephone or via e-mail as
often you require after booking in order to stay in touch, ask questions, and to bring me up to date on any developments with regard to your pregnancy/birth.

On-call availability for labour/birth

After confirmation of booking is received, I will be on call for you 24 hrs per day for 14 days before and 14 days after your estimated due date. The 24hr per day on-call availability comes to an end after your baby's birth.

Labour/birth

I will be available to provide support by telephone when labour begins (day or night), and as often as is required through early stages of labour. As soon as you need me to do so, I will join you at home, and if your chosen place of birth is elsewhere, I will make the journey from your home to either the birth centre or hospital. I will remain with you throughout labour until an hour or two after your baby's birth.

Postnatal visit

Your birth doula support will include one visit within ten days of your baby's birth in order to discuss your birth experience and to chat about your recovery, as well as issues that may be of concern to you with regard to caring for your newborn baby.

Postnatal telephone and e-mail contact

I will be available via telephone and e-mail for 6 weeks after the birth of your baby should you need support and/or information during this postnatal period.

Postnatal Doula Support

As a postnatal doula, in addition to supporting you through
the physical and emotional recovery from birth, I will be able to offer information and practical coping strategies with regard
to caring for your baby, including breastfeeding support. I will also be able to do light housework and/or prepare meals in addition to caring for your baby while you take time to have a bath or enjoy some well deserved rest. However, as individual needs may vary, my role as a postnatal doula will be discussed before responsibilities are agreed upon.
